The Bombay High Court on Thursday rejected the medical plea of Rakesh Wadhawan, founder of Housing Development Infrastructure Limited (HDIL), concerning the PMC bank fraud. Wadhawan was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the year 2019 related to the case of money laundering in the multi-crore Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative.
The single bench headed by Justice Nitin Sambre found the reason given by the Wadhawan’s was “not justified” for him to get temporary bail on medical grounds. He was presently admitted to KEM hospital, where the cardiac care facility is not available so he wants to get himself transferred to the private hospital.
The report which was sought by the court states that Wadhawan’s requires pacemaker implantation which would be useful for easy recovery of him said Senior Advocate Aabad Ponda. However, state counsel Prajakata Shinde objected to his bail plea.
On Tuesday the court was being informed by Advocate A Bobade appearing for Wadhawan that he had been operated on in KEM and also a pacemaker has been installed but, he wants to get himself shifted to the private hospital which has cardiac care unit. But the state informed the court that KEM hospital will be setting this cardiac care unit within a week so the transfer was not at all necessary.
However, the court had permitted Wadhawan’s to approach the court in an emergency.
