After High Court order, Delhi Bar Council issues notice to Nirbhaya Convict’s lawyer for filing ‘forged’ documents

the Delhi Bar Council to issue notice to Mr. AP Singh for filing of ‘forged’ documents

The Bar Council of Delhi has issued notice to Nirbhaya convict Pawan Kumar Gupta’s advocate Mr. AP Singh. This was done pursuance to the order passed by the Delhi High Court on 19th December last year, where the High Court asked the Delhi Bar Council to issue notice to Mr. AP Singh for filing of ‘forged’ documents to prove that Pawan Kumar Gupta was juvenile at the time of the crime he committed. Pawan is a convict of the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape case. The notice is issued for 28th February and Mr. Singh is given two weeks time to respond to the notice.

Order Passed on December last year

Pawan Kumar Gupta pleaded that he was a juvenile at the time of the offence in December 2012. Advocate AP Singh was appearing on behalf of Pawan, he filed various documents as evidence to prove that Pawan was a juvenile which were all forged. The Court sent several communications to him for his appearance but he did not come and was more interested in playing “hide and seek”. As a result the Delhi High Court on 19th December 2019 dismissed Pawan’s plea and also imposed a cost of Rs 25000 on Mr. Singh and also asked the Delhi Bar Council to take appropriate actions against him for filing ‘forged’ documents.
