Literal Meaning
The King is greater than individuals, less than all the people.
Explanation
The maxim ‘Rex Est Major Singulis, Minor Universis’ provides that the king is always greater then individuals (i.e. Individual citizens). However, the people collectively are greater than king, and hence, it is important for the king to focus on increasing the welfare of the citizens.

The preamble to the Indian Constitution states that India is a Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic. [1]
