On Sunday, along with the 18 people, two retired judges, P.N. Ravindran and V. Chitambaresh of the Kerala High Court were inducted into BJP at Tripunithura, Ernakulam. The former judges stepped in the party known as the ‘Vijaya Yatra’ facilitated by the BJP State President, K. Surendran.
From the year 2007-2018 Justice Ravindran was at the service of the Kerala High Court as a judge. And Justice Chitambaresh, in 2011, moved up to the High Court. Justice Chitambaresh ended his tenure as a High Court Judge in 2019. During the induction, Justice Chitambaresh expressed his gratitude towards the party and remarked that during his school journey at Victoria College, Palakkad, he played an active role as an ABVP worker.
Coming down, we could take a note of the response given by Justice Ravindran to Justice Pasha’s remark made during his retirement concerning ‘nepotism in judicial appointments’ along with the stained image of the Kerala High Court in 2018. As per Justice Ravindran, there are honest and diligent lawyers working for the Kerala High Court and the lawyers who are religiously devoted to their work.
Further, there was also a bit of controversy over Justice Chitambaresh’s remark concerning the Brahmin Community followed by the economic reservation. To this, Justice Chitambaresh stated, being at the constitutional position, it restrained himself from drawing a straight remark over reservations.
Lastly, looking at the Kerala Assembly poll 2021, there has been an increase in several polling booths from 21,498 to 40,771. Furthermore, the SC category reserves 14 seats from the 140 seats while the ST category candidates back two from the 140 seats as per the Commission.
