ABOUT THE TOPIC
The COVID-19 Pandemic accelerated the pace of global digitalization, owing to need-of-the-hour requirements and safety concerns. However, the almost complete replacement of traditional working methods by online methods led to many talking points. Sensitive, often secret data, became easily available and accessible to firms, organizations and criminals. The ambiguity surrounding ownership, usage and sharing of personal and non-personal data increased, since there was no particular regime in place governing the same. The common man is unaware as to what percentage of their data is used for legitimate purposes like marketing whereas what percentage of it is sold for illegal purposes like extortion and solicitation. Terms like ‘first-party data’ and ‘data breadth’ are foreign to a majority of internet users even in the technological era of today. The importance of data safety and related regulations cannot be over-emphasized, for the current scenario has no alternative in sight for decades to come, and the long pending status of the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 provides no relief to worried users and free-reigning organizations, whilst the world-view on data protection expands day-by-day.

The series shall end with a short examination, based on the information given in the 3 sessions, and only after its completion, the participants shall receive a certificate signifying their attendance.
